Movie Star

After trying so hard to find new models all summer, I've pretty much run out of options. So, I simply had to get back to my roots and stick to what works - ME. As you might know, I'm a big fan of taking pictures of myself. And, since I couldn't even find someone to be an extra, I just used myself over and over again. (That's right - it's me talking to me!) I had fun with them, let me know what you think! (Please).

Lady of the Lake

Since it's nearing the end of summer, I thought it would be nice to post these ultimate summer pictures I took today. Nothing special - not an actual photo shoot or anything, just my friend and old roommate, Liz. So summery, so refreshing!

Such a #beachbabe.

I took a ton of pictures of strangers too, but I decided it's inappropriate to post them, right? Does anyone know the rules?

Happy Last Days of Summer, everyone!

Sorry, This Post is going to be a Little Bit CORNY

My beautiful best friend, Netanya, posed for a few shoots and I love the photos. Let's start with a few from the weekend:

Isn't she great? This summer she also got a pet chicken (who is great, by the way). We did a portrait session and it's really sweet. (This is my teaser for the next post (see what I did there?)).

This summer has flown by, hasn't it? I've been bulking up my portfolio and have to catch up with you guys! Here is some of my newest stuff with my star model, Ruthanna.

ALSO, big news! My first solo show outside of school! It's in the Barnes & Noble in Kingston, NY. I know, I know, it's nothing huge, but go check it out! The show is up until September 10th. It's the launch of my new Pet Portrait Business. (If you're interested check out my Pet page: katherinesolomon.com/petportraits

The Time I Went to the German Festival

Today I went to a German Festival. There were dachshund races and lots of great streetstyle. Here are my photos from the day. I'm hoping to make my big break by submitting these to German Life magazine. I'm going to be a journalistic star, you guys. Help me!

And here I am in a dirndl (so you can see behind-the-scenes):

Bird Girl and the Flower Goddess

This is a style I was trying out at school and I'm trying to expand it into a series. Let me know what you think, please. Thank you.

New Model

This summer I need to really expand my portfolio and I need lots of pictures of people who aren't me. I want to photograph everyone! (If you're a model or know models let me know)! I tried some stuff today. Here you go. This is my friend, Ruthanna.

Polaroid Stories

Two posts in one day to make up for the, you know, four months where I completely slacked off. So, here are some photos from a shoot I did for a play at my school - Polaroid Stories. Getting to work with actors was really fun and I would love to do something like this again. At the end of the play, the photograph were dropped from above onto the audience. So cool.

Sixties Chic

Hey Guys! Sorry about that! You guys must have been waiting here so patiently! You all were probably on the edge of your seat waiting for the BIG ANNIVERSARY OF THE BLOG post, but I'm going to do that next time! I think a month behind schedule isn't too too bad, right?

Here's a little nugget to keep you guys satisfied. Let me know what you think about this one. I've been doing a project where I take family/regular portraits throughout the history of photography. This one is in progress. This is 1960s. But don't worry there will be more to this pic!

My Vision

Valerie Shaff, who I interned for this summer, did a photo-shoot of me! I styled it and told her my vision for the shoot. I've never had my picture taken by a real-live photographer before. The dressing gown was provided by Lisa Durphee at Five and Diamond Vintage in Hudson, NY.
Don't you love it? They're all pictures of me!

Bohemian Rhapsody

Yesterday for my internship with Valerie Shaff, she photographed a woman named Marlena. I took photos too.
Marlena is very bohemian and she gave us shots of homemade cherry sherry. She had the coolest house you guys! Here she is with her new ducks, Quick and Quack. Quick is the boy.

Here are some of my photos:

I'm trying some new photography styles. I tried to be more commercial and also tried to do a more journalistic editorial style. What do you guys think?

Roaring Twenties

Now I'm in my roaring twenties. Here are some pictures I don't like.
(You know how when you're in your twenties you don't like anything? Is that just me?)
I took them today. Maybe I'll like them tomorrow, you know?

Zines

**ATTENTION: I NEED YOU GUYS!!**

I've been really wanting to make a zine for a while now. Wouldn't that be cool? And I was thinking it would be really interesting and fun if the zine had contributions from you guys! Does anyone else out there want to make a zine with me? Leave comments! This is going to be fun!

Run Lola Run

We based this photoshoot on the German film, Run Lola Run. You can get pumped up with this song from the movie. This one is about running.

Mostly, our photoshoot had nothing to do with Run Lola Run.

It's starts getting maybe a little bit morbid.
